Harvest Date: Hand-harvested in end September – first half of October

Aging: Aged for 6 months in first and second passage barriques.

Tasting Notes: Dark red with purple tones in color. On the nose the wine is intense and complex. It releases an explosion of aromatic herbs, marjoram, thyme, rosemary, notes of resin, graphite, then a riot of young fruits, such as cherry, strawberry, blueberry and rose petals in the background. The taste is intense, deeply mineral, oriented to a soft and fresh development. Long finish that brings back the spicy notes.

Vineyard Notes: Vineyard location: Morello. Soil Type: clay, silt-like soil (ancient red earth), not very fertile. Altitude: 200-210 meters above sea level. Training system: Guyot growing system 70%, Casarsa 30%.

Production Notes: Soft pressing of the whole grapes followed by fermentation which takes place at a temperature of 26-28 C. and aged for 6 months in first and second year barrels. No clarification and no filtration. The wine is bottled about 10 months after the harvest.

Winemaker Notes: A structured still red wine, born of our Gutturnio harvest, the Morello vineyard, located in a higher position with north-south exposure. Every year we thin out the grape bunches here and harvest the grapes in an advanced state of ripeness. These are the primary reasons behind the difference between TerredellaTosa and Vignamorello: a difference in structure, maturity, depth, life span. Moreover, Vigamorello is aged in wood for a few months. All of this results in a concentrated and important wine, but with an immediate approach and the serenity emanated from our green hills reflected in the grapes.

Food Pairing: Enjoy this wine with white or red meats, duck, very hearty dishes and rich first courses. Also great with aged cheeses.
