Harvest Date: Hand-harvested in early October

Aging: Refined for 4 months in Slavonian oak, 1 month in Tuscan oak and 8 months in bottle

Tasting Notes: Bright red with ruby-violet hues. The aromas are winy and distinctive with hints of ripe fruit. The taste is dry, smooth and pleasant.

Vineyard Notes: Vineyard location: on the hills in the municipality of Montalcino.

Production Notes: The fermentation happens in stainless steel tanks, at a controlled temperature for a period of 16 days. After that, the wine is left to mature for 4 months in Slavonian oak barrels followed by 1 month in Tuscan Oak casks and 8 months of bottle aging prior to release.

Winemaker Notes: A simple and fun expression of Sangiovese grapes. A great food wine with a lively personality.

Food Pairing: Sauce-dressed pasta, stewed meat, roast, cheese.

Other Notes: Abbadia Ardenga, a winery which is part of the history of Brunello di Montalcino, is extremely special and definitely worth visiting, not only for its products but also for its outstanding charm. The estate has a very long history, having once belonged to the powerful Piccolomini family, whose members included Pope Pius II, responsible for the construction of the town of Pienza, a masterpiece of the Renaissance.
